Last night’s club competition was “Blue” and this is one of the two images I submitted. The intention was to obviously show the color, but also the emotion of blue. Unfortunately the image wasn’t liked by the judge, but I personally love it.

This time of year is often dreaded by portrait photographers because generally we don’t have a huge amount of work – everyone was photographed for their Christmas photos and it’s winter, so who wants to go outside anyway. But I always love this time of year as I get to reflect on what happened last year, look at how I’m going to approach this year, and get to play around with projects for myself and experiment a bit. I was photographing last weekend for our next club competition and my daughter wanted her photo taken as she’d just changed her hair color. While you can’t see the new color, here is one of the photos I took of her.

I have been asked by my friend Vicki to get involved in her fundraiser for a very precious little girl who needs some financial help with a cancer treatment and obviously I jumped at the opportunity. I am donating a silent auction item worth $412, so if you’re wanting a shoot sometime in the near future and you want to donate some money to this amazing child, then please consider attending.

I am organizing a fundraising event for “Sweet Bea” at Blue Mark Studios, Atlanta, on Saturday, March 3rd from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Sweet Bea is a beautiful and brave 6 year old girl in my neighbourhood currently battling a very aggressive form of cancer. Her prognosis? Not good. But… there is hope. The hope involves undertaking experimental medicine, and this form of medicine is unfortunately not covered by insurance. So now, in addition to the incredible mental toll this is taking on her parents, they also have the additional financial strain to deal with. Sweet Bea, as her mother calls her, or Boo, as her father lovingly calls her, deserves the chance to live a full life, and by attending this event, we can all help in the journey to give her the “hope” she needs in the form of a financial donation. Blue Mark Studios has donated an amazing space, with enough room for 250 people. Tickets will be on sale soon at $35.00 pp. This would include all entertainment (The Comedy Magic of Levent), food and two drink tickets. There will also be a silent auction, dancing etc. I already have some great donations. But.. I need help….. I need more donations for the auction, I need restaurants to provide “heavy hors d’oeuvres” , or to donate a silent auction item, such as a chef’s table dinner for instance, or all of the above…. This kind of donation is the difference between a good fundraiser, and an amazing, awesome, successful fundraiser. I also need volunteers who are also prepared to purchase a ticket (because it’s all about raising money) who will assist at the bar, at the front door, and help clean up with me afterwards. Little Watsons

The Watson’s are my next door neighbors and I have been photographing them for 7 years. It’s so cute since the youngest Watson’s are now getting older and you can get them to laugh on command for their photos. They seem to find the oddest of things amusing, which really works in our favor

Finke Family Christmas

This is the second time I have photographed the Finke family and just had a blast. The last time we photographed them in studio, but this time we went outside for some great Christmas winter shots. We went down to Rope Mill – my new favorite spot for outdoor shoot. There is so much versatility there that you can get really creative every time.

Almost Christmas time

After working very hard in the run up to Christmas and getting everyone’s family photos and cards done, I am now officially on vacation for the rest of the year. My computer is unplugged and my camera is safely tucked away.

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, a happy Hanukka, and enjoy whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year. I also wish you a good and safe new year and here’s looking forward to seeing you soon in 2012.

Joyous Joiner Family

The Joiner family have not had their family photo taken since their son was a baby, so this was a long awaited shoot. It was quite chilly, but everyone did great and we got to have some fun playing around and trying to keep warm at the same time.
