37 Living Socials – first shoot today

I can’t believe I’ve sold 37 Living Social shoots. Mind you, I’d probably buy it if it was me. It’s great deal and it’s only valid for 2 more days, so if you haven’t had a change to go and buy it, but you want to, don’t wait.

I photographed my first Living Social couple this morning. We were photographing for a maternity shoot and we went to the lake. What a gorgeous couple and such a lovely location. We had the best fun and got some amazing intimate shots of them and their bump. I will post some photos in a few days.

As for the rest of the weekend – Perry and Lindsay are getting married tomorrow where Jay and I will be shooting and then 3 shoots on Sunday. I guess my down-time is well and truly over

CPC smoke

We had so much fun last night at the Cherokee Photography Club with our smoke photography tutorial. I learned that scent less incense sticks aren’t scent less and I also learned that even in a big room, 4 sticks at a time gets very smoky. I’ve seen 2 of the images taken last night & they look fab – can’t wait to see some more.

Last month I asked a rather inked friend if he would pose for me so I could photograph his tattoos. This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a while and I love how well his ink photographed – although there was some lovely smelling lotion involved to bring out the colors

Last night’s club competition was “Blue” and this is one of the two images I submitted. The intention was to obviously show the color, but also the emotion of blue. Unfortunately the image wasn’t liked by the judge, but I personally love it.

Time for reflection and personal projects

This time of year is often dreaded by portrait photographers because generally we don’t have a huge amount of work – everyone was photographed for their Christmas photos and it’s winter, so who wants to go outside anyway. But I always love this time of year as I get to reflect on what happened last year, look at how I’m going to approach this year, and get to play around with projects for myself and experiment a bit. I was photographing last weekend for our next club competition and my daughter wanted her photo taken as she’d just changed her hair color. While you can’t see the new color, here is one of the photos I took of her.
